Done deal

Spoke to HR today.

I don’t think it could’ve been easier. Or more generous. So basically two months in advance, I now know I’ll be leaving in mid Jan 2017 and I’ll get the following package as I’m walked out the door.

2 wks courtesy pay. 10 wks base severance. And 5 weeks for my 5 yr tenure. ( i’ll be just shy of my 6 yr mark which they cannot bridge).

I’ll also get my regular Q4 MBO payout and my initial 25% vesting of the cash incentive reward I received back in Aug.

My two weeks of accrued vacation will not be paid out so it’s a use it or lose it scenario.

HR applauded the way I’m dealing with this and confirmed my sense that corporate led exits will never be this generous going forward.

I’m as emotionally and financially prepared as I’ll ever be and i’ve got a solid head start with a number of interviews.

Family visits

Dad and Irene just left. Really great visit and so glad the weather wasn’t as bad as expected. They gave us peace of mind while we whisked ourselves away to Vegas and then we had a few comfortable days together once we got back. Dad was such a trooper, even with has bad leg from a recent bike accident.

Now, after a day of interlude, Justin and fam are coming to town! And today is Maria’s birthday no less. Kind of neat how our little island apartment in the middle of Puget Sound is becoming a popular family gathering place. I’m going to get a cake and make stir fry.

Biding time

I’ve been home alone with the kids since Wed. Steph went back to NC for a variety of reasons, principal of which being to help and be Shay’s plus one for her sisters wedding.

Outside of one blow up with Phi before school on Friday morning, things have been pretty smooth at home and at work. There’s definitely tension, but there’s harmony too.

It’s a rainy Saturday afternoon now, and i just dropped the kids off. Phi to a movie with friends and Jules to Westside Pizza for a birthday party.

As for me, I’m just biding time.
