was recognized today for feedback Friday. We rotate the spotlight across our global team with gold stars and embedded quotes from key stakeholders. It’s a little cheesy but still nice to see my name in lights

got a bit of a distress call from Sophia’s coach. We have a family session scheduled for tmrw. who knows where her mind is at. Reality is she’s got to want it. frankly none of us can do this for her. I just hope she realizes this is the kind of thing you can end up losing your bed over. Homeless. Without plants. just one little cactus that you cling onto. Strung out. High on who knows what. really really lost. Like ET. I’m exaggerating but I’m deadly serious too.
fell hard on the Onewheel coming back from trivia tonight. game was over and it had just stopped raining and i was cruising home thru the cemetery trail. oddly circumstantial given Julian’s recent skid and all. thankfully all I totaled were my shorts.

Robin left for the airport this morning. But not before treating Steph and I to a fabulous meal last night at Little Alley. Made all the more special as it was Julian’s first night back as busser/food runner. He’ll be picking up shifts thru the summer to pad his bank account and make a couple generous purchases he’s confided to me. Anyway, even though the plan is no car for 1st year in college, he will be needing his own wheels to some degree. Enter Mamoo, who like so many times before, comes to the rescue with a perfect solution. Namely to borrow Mary Ruth’s truck. Not only that, and I don’t think I’ve written about this already, but she’s also giving Julian the old 86’ Chevy Silverado they’ve had stored in the barn for ages. Take a look at this beauty.
So, after all the beehive of family and activity this past week, now I find myself abruptly home alone. After dropping off Robin at MARTA, Steph and Jules headed up to Franklin. The plan is to get used to the newly restored Chevy ( 4 speed stick V8 – seemingly a beast to drive) , but then drive home in Mary Ruth’s more modern day truck and use that for the summer. Steph will stay up a bit longer to polish off the basement we’ve been redoing at Grandads.
Tent was taken down this morning. Boys chipped in to return all the tables and chairs I borrowed. And we miraculously got the “party pad” all cleaned up for our next guests, arriving today for a few week stay no less!
been crazy 🤪 making to say the least. So it’s weird to now just be sitting here, alone, basking in the glory of having pulled off an epic house party and then resetting things back to normal.

What a week! First day back to work after a long Memorial Day weekend and man what a time to remember. It was truly a gift to have so much family and friends all together like that. By all measures and feedback, the party was a smashing success! Both the traditional afternoon part as well as the dreaded after-party. The amount of drunken revelry sure had many of us worried there for a bit, but the 200+ newly minted grads managed to dance their way thru the night, largely intact and without any legal implications!
Our tiny house and spacious grounds proved to be just the venue for the occasion. Evoked a real sense of pride for Steph and I, being what, almost 24 years since we last partied there for our wedding. Was a surreal experience for me for sure. Now being a dad of a college bound son and all.
there were so many highlights I can’t even begin to state. It really has been the time of my life.

as expected, Allstate deemed the BMW a total loss. I went to the collision shop, retrieved the tag and released it to salvage. Was crazy to see how stripped down was. Sent the title off today and in about a week I should see a direct deposit for about 9k. Honestly very in line with market rates without any of the hassle. Plus I saved a bundle on car insurance. Been a wild, emotional ride and of course not how we ever would’ve wanted this to go down, but that his car is now sold, right before he goes off to college, has definitely been a mixed blessing.

church, sushi and pickleball. Missed Sophia to complete our foursome but always here in spirit. Happy Mother’s Day babe. You grace our lives with your beauty, humility, compassion and forgiveness.

today is Friday. Payday. In more ways than one. I’m still earning my keep over at Dell. Never would’ve imagined it but they gave me Google as my latest assignment. The irony isn’t lost on me. I used to hate computers and now I’m working for Dell and supporting Google in our push to bring AI everywhere. Even to the stores at McDonalds. Next payday, comes from Steph as we just rolled over her 401-k from IBM. And according to the rule of 55, she can take her money off the table without penalty as she was “terminated” in the same year she turned 55. She’s done amazing things in her career and frankly, it’s her paydays that have been just as meaningful as mine. And then, to complete the trifecta, an Airbnb guest from Canada just dropped in our lap for a 40 night stay at North Coleman. List price.
To celebrate we did what we usually do. Spent some. Saved some. And invested some.
