Financing

Finally, about to secure the bank loan necessary to build our custom house. It’s interest only at 4.5% for the initial 12 months to construct, upon which it will convert to a 30yr fixed.

Appraising a home that doesn’t  exist was the most frustrating part of the process. So much rides on it in determining loan to value. Needless to say, ours came in much lower than expected and  it became clear we were going to come up short on the cash to close.

(Dad and Irene totally came thru but that’s a post for another time.)

Anyway, we are  now city permitted, bank funded and personally committed to break ground on our new home!

Le bistro

I don’t think I’ve mentioned that I’ve been moonlighting at a restaurant on the occasional Saturday nights. The owner pays me $100 cash to kind of babysit the place so she can have a night off. It’s a charming place with a small bar and a nice deck overlooking the street scene of downtown Roswell. It’s called Le Bistro

A lot of my early journals and college years centered around restaurant life. Who I met. How much I made. What I ate and drank. It’s kind of ironic that I find myself doing the same thing roughly 30 years later. But I do like it, especially now that I don’t depend on it for my livelihood.

Interview

I have an interview coming up that I’m pretty excited about. Would be crazy if things progress as they might. What would the kids think? Probably their only hope is that we’d be moving back to Bainbridge. Which we are not.

We’ll see how things progress. First things first I’ve got to nail the interview
