Been awhile

It’s been awhile since I’ve stopped to write. I get on Julian to do it more as I love it when he does. Nothing from the girls but that’s besides the point. Sophia actually got me a nice leather bound journal for my birthday (kind of an ironic way of pushing things back on me saying “you write Dad!” but I haven’t decided how to mar it up just yet.

I guess I can blame it on being busy, or not in the mood, both of which are often true, but not a genuine excuse. I’m finding time and in the mood now chilling here with a coffee and banana before work.

Anyway, all to say life is good and i do look forward to turning over a new leaf in such a way. I’m optimistic about what this year has in store.

House sketches

Spent the day with Lew Oliver  sketching out future house plans. He draws so fluidly it was a joy just to sit and watch. Steph and I spelled out a 4 bed / 4 1/2 bath with pool and sauna. Main floor will be L shaped. Open floor plan with southwesternly light and expansive views to our courtyard. Our room will be the on the main wing. With a guest room and bath at the far end with its own entrance. The kids will be upstairs, above the main floor with a joining room in the middle to serve as communal space. They’ll each have their own bath and closet.  Add in a Porte-cache, Julians skate ramp, that gorgeous tree in our yard , geothermal energy, concrete floors, a kick-ass ceiling, and so much more….I am super pumped about this!

Holidays are here

It’s the busy season. Just a few days before Christmas. The eight nights of Hanukkah are over and now shit gets real with the bigger presents and flurry of birthdays on New Years. Marking 2018 should be pretty epic given we’re going to the coast of Mexico on a vacation Dad and Irene booked for the whole family. A birthday in Sayulita with waves on the beach and margarita in hand sounds better than anything I could’ve asked for.

Monday

steph left at the crack of dawn for Seattle. She’ll be gone for the week for Apptio sales meetings and such at their Bellevue Hq. kids were great getting out the door. I packed lunches and yummy egg spinach tacos for breakfast.

Nanny came at 3 and I had her entertain Julian for awhile. They went to mini golf, ate some dippin dots and even bought another fish at petsmart.

now they’re at music lessons and I’m chilling nearby till 7:30. Dinner after that, homework, call mom to see how her day was and then prep for it all to begin again on Tuesday.

New Nanny

It’s been awhile since we’ve needed a sitter for the kids. But with Steph back at work and my disdain for the kids to just sit and veg on their devices, I felt it important to introduce them to a positive and engaging new influence a few times a week. I found her online at sitter-city. Her bio read as part drama teacher, part struggling actress from New York and LA, who loved kids and needed the money to make ends meet in between gigs. We had our first trial run last Saturday night and when we came home around 10pm, I could tell she had them eating out of her hands! And not that it came up in my pre-screen…but she’s Jewish no less. Oh vey!
